EpiDoc is a standard based on TEI for the encoding, publication and interchange of ancient and other documentary texts in XML. In this workshop we shall introduce you to the interaction between XML standards and the traditional standards of epigraphy and papyrology (Leiden Conventions, EAGLE, APIS, etc.), present some of the tools produced by the EpiDoc Collaborative, and give you the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with the epigraphic annotation tool based on the Perseids toolkit.

2. Photogrammetry workshop 9h00-12h30 Petite Salle de formation de la Bibliothèque Universitaire Droit-Lettres

Photogrammetry is a powerful and affordable method to produce detailed 3D models from traditional photographies. It can be applied successfully to small objects as well as entire buildings, and it has become one of the most effective tools in archaeology and cultural heritage in order to record, preserve, study and communicate artefacts and landscapes. The workshop is a hands-on session that covers the entire process from the correct way to photograph the target to creating and editing the final 3D mesh.
A digital camera (mobiles included) is required to join the activities.

In this workshop we will explore the intertextual search tool Tesserae, which identifies areas of shared language between texts. Our goal will be to demonstrate the functions of the tool, and to examine the strengths and limitations of word-based searches in the study of intertextuality. Depending upon the interests and experience level of the participants, topics may include customisation and/or pedagogical uses of Tesserae.

4. LASLA  « Traitements logométriques des bases de données textuelles latines du LASLA : Hyperbase-Latin et Hyperbase Web Edition », 9h00-12h30, Maison des Sciences de l'Homme, 2ème étage

L’atelier aura pour objectif de permettre aux participants de maîtriser l’ensemble des processus nécessaires au traitement logométrique de textes latins enrichis selon les méthodes du LASLA : description des processus de lemmatisation et d’étiquetage, recherchesdocumentaires avec Hyperbase-Latin et Hyperbase Web Edition (création de concordances et d’index), utilisation des fonctions statistiquesd’Hyperbase-Latin et d’Hyperbase Web Edition, étude des spécificités, des cooccurrences généralisées et des cooccurrences spécifiques, des segments répétés et des motifs avec les mêmeslogiciels.
Organisé en 1 demi-journée, l’atelier s’adressera aux doctorants, post-doctorants et chercheurs s’intéressant au traitement lexicométrique et grammaticométrique des textes latins classiques, tardifs, medio-latinsounéo-latins.

5. Treebanking (part 1), 9h00-12h30 Maison des Sciences de l'Homme, 1er étage

Treebanking is the discipline dealing with morphosyntactic annotation of texts, which can be used for a variety of purposes, including linguistic research and teaching. The attendees of the workshop will learn the foundations of linguistic annotation (guidelines, evaluation, and adjudication) and how to perform it using the Perseids Platform. They will also learn to perform basic queries using XQuery.

The field of Linked Ancient World Data has burgeoned in the last several years, with a network of relationships between texts, objects, events, collections, publications and institutions formed principally by reference to the Pleiades Gazetteer for ancient places (and other authorities linked by the Pelagios Project) and the SNAP:DRGN virtual authority of ancient prosopographies. In this workshop we shall demo some of the tools produced by these projects, including annotation tools, and ask participants to consider some of the ways that the networks of Linked Data can be used as research and discovery resources by ancient historians.

Located in the University campus in  Saint Martin D’Hères, the fabMSTIC platform is an innovative space equipped with advanced tools able to produce quick prototypes . By opening the access to prototyping tools such as 3D scanners, 3D printers and laser cutters, FabLab aspire to boost creativity, to encourage the sharing of experiences between research teams and disciplines, to enable research and to valorise projets, and fto acilitate outreach and scholarly dissemination. 

Participants to the DHANT conference will be then offered a guided tour and a presentation of this environment, including relevant achievement, especially in connection with archeology.
